From= the Co-Presidents

League activities foc= us on Voter Service at this time of year.

This year we are also= involved in the second year of the statewide study on Financing Education.=   Fred Stein and Irene Wynnycz= uk assembled an interesting and informed panel about Charter Schools for th= e meeting on October 3.  Those= of us who attended learned more about the pros and cons about Charter Scho= ols and their impact on local school districts.  Join us for the consensus meeting on October 26.

Several Board members= attended the Ida Trager Regional Workshop in September.  We had the opportunity to meet Chris Hansen, ne= w Executive Director LWVNYS and state officers and Board members.

Irene Wynnyczuk worke= d with representatives of ARISE for a presentation on selecting new voting = machines.  See the state web s= ite for more information on the topic.

Voters’ Guide I= has been distributed to libraries throughout the county.  Look for Voters’ Guide II soon.

Marcie Easterling and= Diane Bell registered voters at the Roarke Center in early October.

We will be facilitati= ng a Candidates forum for the East Greenbush Library on October 19 at 7:00P= M.  This will be a good opport= unity to hear candidates from the 106th and 108th Assembly Districts.

Last, but not least, = contact Jane Ducatt if you are able to be an Election Night Reporter.<= /o:p>
