The League of Women Voters of Rensselaer County in partnership with Sage Votes will hold a candidate forum for the 6 District 1 Troy County Legislature positions. . Of the 15 candidates all of whom were invited, 6 have agreed to participate - Carole Weaver, Cindy Doran, Mark Fleming, Peter Grimm,  Nina Nichols, and Ken Zalewski.  While the League would prefer to have a wider representation of Parties, nevertheless differences in background and point of view are expected. Familiar League member Barbara Bartoletti will act as moderator.

With uncertainty about what the county legislature does, this forum will give  a chance to find out more about the candidates and what they hope to accomplish once in office.  The League urges Rensselaer County voters, and especially those in Troy, to inform themselves before the election by attending this event.

Voter education is a staple at Russell Sage College and the League is proud to continue its partnership with Sage Votes, a comprehensive, non-partisan initiative whose mission is to promote student voter registration, voter participation and voter awareness through on-campus and virtual activities. This committee consists of students, faculty and staff. Collaboratively, the two groups work together to deliver programs that increase access to voter awareness, access and education.
