Today LWVRC is launching this new online Forum to provide a platform for sharing of information among Observers of Troy government and those League members interested in these reports.
From LWVUS - Understanding how local government works is basic to effective League activity. Local League observers are the eyes and ears of the League, monitoring how government works and what issues arise that are of interest or concern to our mission.
The Open Meetings Law ensures "the right of all citizens to have advance notice of and to attend all meetings of public bodies at which any business affecting the public is discussed or acted upon, with certain limited exceptions to protect the public interest and preserve personal
privacy."
Observers may ask questions for clarification, information or knowledge keeping an impartial attitude.
Observers may speak for the League only if authorized to do so. In some cases written comments approved by the board might be distributed.
This Forum is not limited to observed meetings but may include government statements from other sources.
