A Finance Committee meeting followed by a Special meeting was held on 1/20/22 via zoom. Members of the public are allowed to speak up to 4 minutes at the beginning of the meeting on agenda items and 2 persons spoke via zoom.
The Resolution expanding the membership of the Troy Redistricting Commission was withdrawn to be reintroduced at a Regular meeting February 3.
A Resolution proclaiming February 2022 Black History month in Troy was nicely worded and unanimously approved. Kiani Conley-Wilson, the first black woman elected to serve on the City Council expressed the hope that the sentiment would go beyond words into action.
A fourth City Marshall was appointed. This man from a politically connected family was described by several Council persons as minimally experienced and qualified to serve as a City Marshall. It was stated that City Marshalls primarily serve eviction papers which requires sensitivity and mediation skills. This will be a particularly stressful task as the Covid eviction moratoriums expire.
